The TC5 series temperature controller offers flexible alarm configuration for both deviation-based and absolute-value-based upper/lower limit alerts. In many industrial settings, engineers may prefer to switch from deviation (offset-based) alarms to absolute value alarms for more precise and intuitive monitoring.
In this guide, we'll walk you through the steps to change the upper deviation alarm (Ad1) into an absolute value high alarm on the TC5 controller.
Absolute alarms allow you to set a fixed value—for example, 180°C—as your alarm threshold, regardless of the set temperature (SV). This is often required in critical applications like:

1. Enter Parameter Setting Mode:
Hold the SET button for 3 seconds until P-1 menu appear.
2. Press ▲ to enter into the P-2 menu and Find Alarm Type Parameter (Ad1):
Ad1 using ▲▼ keys.3.Change Value from 1 to 5:
1 = Deviation alarm (relative to SV)5 = Absolute value alarm (fixed)4. Confirm & Exit:
